Dragon's Egg

Title: Dragon's Egg
Author: [livejournal.com profile] saki101
Genre: pre-slash
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Illya/Napoleon
Disclaimer: Man from UNCLE is not mine and no money is being made.
A/N: [livejournal.com profile] elmey’s prompt was a Persian proverb: Night hides the world, but reveals a universe.

Also posted on AO3.

Excerpt: Napoleon glanced over his shoulder. Above the antique desk that crouched on its claw feet on the far side of the room, a faint glow illuminated a fold of the tapestry behind which they had located the safe. Illya had cracked it like it was a child’s toy, but inside there had been a strong box that was resisting his attentions with unusual success.

Title: Magnetic Midnight (The Rosebay Affair - Part 4.5)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] saki101
Genre: Slash
Rating: PG-13
Characters/Pairing: Illya/Napoleon
Warnings: A few characters have wandered in from another DMC film called Around the World Under the Sea. (A video clip which introduces the characters in the film may be viewed here.) They did that in another of my stories, too. It isn’t necessary to read that one first, but having a look at the clip will help, and will also demonstrate that Dr Philip Volker is just as pretty as Illya.
Disclaimer: Don't own any of these characters or their universes and no money is being made!
A/N: At the beginning of The Rosebay Affair: Part IV, Kittridge was going off to Greenland to join a mission headed by a non-UNCLE scientist named Philip Volker. [livejournal.com profile] ride_4ever’s prompts included aurora borealis and dogsleds, so following up on the Greenland mission came to mind immediately.

A beautiful picture has been created for the story by [livejournal.com profile] open_channel_d. It may be viewed here.

Excerpt: The plane droned above clouds tinted pink by the rising sun.

“Straight on ‘til morning,” Napoleon murmured, unbuckling his safety harness and stretching.

Illya eyes swept over the instrument panel and then over his partner. “A bit more northerly than that,” he replied.

Something That Belongs To Me )
saki101: (MFU-Third backstory)
This is mostly the thirty segments of backstory which I posted during November 2011's PicoWriMo. The extended flashback is far from finished, but as I have re-ordered them the selections follow one another fairly continuously, so I thought I'd collect them in one place with the hope that more work will be done from the foundation gathered here. Feedback would be most appreciated.

For those who have read Third (and can still remember it), this describes how Illya, Daria (Dasha), Alexandra (Sasha), Kyrill and Pavel met one another (pre-UNCLE).

For the MFUWSS 2012 Easter Egg Challenge, [livejournal.com profile] ashley_pitt requested a slashy Easter Egg with flowers and sunshine as the prompts. Her prompts inspired me to write an Egg-size (more or less) continuation of a story I wrote a while back which has a flowering plant as one of the characters. (The first parts were also posted at MFUWSS here.)

Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] azdak who gacked it from from [livejournal.com profile] sallymn -

1. Go to page 7 (or 77) of your current WIP.
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines – sentences or paragraphs – and post them as they’re written.

This is part of the backstory to Third,
a bit further on than the scenes posted during the November picowrimo.

Naturally, I went for the seven paragraph option. That left two paragraphs in the scene (one of which involves a dark and stormy night, so proceed at your own risk) which I put in, too, a little further down. (Not exactly following the rules there, I know, but at least it's only about 400 words.)

Genre: Slash

A/N: Episode-related (The Arabian Affair). Final scene revised. Typos in the DtC post corrected here (hopefully)!

(Original version posted on muncle DtC 2011.)

Excerpt: A blue spot had coloured the smoky air over the small platform at the club. The oboe’s silver levers had winked in the eldritch light as Illya‘s fingers moved over them. Napoleon had seen those fingers move with the same precision among the tangled wires inside a bomb.

Part III has been a very long time coming, so everyone's patience probably ran out ages ago. If, by some miracle, it has not, then here is a further expansion of Third, an Easter Egg I posted at MFU Writers Survival School in April 2010 and continued in May. Some readers wanted to know more about Illya's mysterious friends. Palme d'Or starts the morning after Parts I and II and explains some of the connections between the characters.

Part I of the story may be found at MFUWSS here.
Part II is here.
(Also posted on MFUWSS.)

Rating: R (there are slash and het aspects)
Length: ~7K
Warning: There are screencaps in this section, so it may be a little slow in loading.
Disclaimer: I don't own MUNCLE and no money is being made. As in the previously posted parts, the non-canon (original) characters are mine.
Author's note: Playing around with reality a bit with regard to the name of the prize given at Cannes in certain years.

Excerpt:

No one lounged against a wall quite like Illya; no one imbued that seemingly relaxed posture with the seductive menace that he did.

saki101: (MFU-ThatLook)
Back in February, I posted a couple screencaps on mfu-yumdaily and entitled them Sleight of Hand. The pictures and the discussion they sparked formed the basic idea for a later story, Without a Word. They also sparked a little vignette which I didn't post at the time, one of those inside-Napoleon's-head ficlets set within the context of an episode I like to write from time to time. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] utopiantrunks for encouraging me to edit and post it and for teaching me how to make a banner.

There are slash and het implications.

The Touch of Butterflies

The Touch of Butterflies )
saki101: (MFU-Negotiating)
This is the second part of a further continuation of the story which started with Blue Diamonds and continued in Black Sapphires and Baroque Pearls (Part I). There is also a connection with a ficlet I wrote entitled When the Cherries Bloom.

At the beginning of July I participated in picowrimo with the overly optimistic goal of finishing this story by the end of the month, which got revised to the end of August. Unfortunately, it isn't quite done yet.

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] utopiantrunks for listening to me mulling over the ideas for the plot and for helping me keep the POV straight. All the shortcomings are mine.

Excerpt: From the top of the dark curtains, sunlight seeped across the grey ceiling. Illya kicked the covers off and stretched. The surf sounded rough. Anton stirred. Illya turned his head on the pillow.

“They’ve sent you back to me, haven’t they?” Anton asked, propping himself up on his elbow, facing Illya. Illya met his gaze. “What do they want?”

This is the first part of a further continuation of the story which started with Blue Diamonds and continued in Black Sapphires. There is also a connection with a ficlet I wrote entitled When the Cherries Bloom.

Baroque Pearls has remained partially-written for nearly ten months and participating in [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] elmey's recommendation, has finally gotten me to take it up again.

I am very grateful to the moderators and all the other participants of picowrimo for their encouragement and suggestions and to [livejournal.com profile] utopiantrunks for listening to my rewrites and patiently explaining the use of italics. All the shortcomings are mine.

Excerpt: Napoleon and Illya dropped their bags just inside the apartment door. “Did you do something to aggravate him?” Napoleon asked.

“Who?” Illya mumbled, weaving towards the couch and collapsing onto it.

“Mr Waverly,” Napoleon answered, detouring to the kitchen and banging a few cupboard doors. “He seems to be trying to kill us.”

Excerpt:

Napoleon resumed his study of Doctors Kuryakin and Volker who were donning the last of their scuba gear. One of them turned towards the deck as he zipped up his wet suit and smiled at them.

“I can hardly tell them apart,” Napoleon marvelled, and Napoleon was justifiably proud of his observation skills.
