Title: Penumbra (Winter Special)
Author: saki101
Rating: R
Characters and Pairings: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Sherlock/John
Word Count: ~27.8K (first twenty-seven chapters)
Summary: Autumn is fading into winter. As the days grow shorter, Holmeswood Manor reveals something new to John.
Disclaimer: Neither Sherlock BBC nor Dark Shadows belong to me.
A/N: Written in a series of short chapters to the prompts of the 2020 Advent Ficlet Challenge and
taking as inspiration the John and Sherlock of the Unaired Pilot.

Another instalment of the Penumbra series, which is a gothic AU of the Sherlock universe inspired by the universe of Dark Shadows (the 1966 television series).

Preview: In Maine, there was Collinwood and the three centuries of history that were woven into its walls. In London, there is Holmeswood Manor (or the Manor on Baker Street as the urban legends have it), tucked now into a city street when once its oak woods rolled from the heath to the river.

Series One Overview: John grew up with its stories of ghosts and wizards and things that hunt in the night. They didn’t keep him from interviewing for a residential post at the Manor because he couldn’t afford London on an army pension and there could not possibly have been any truth to the tales.

Series Two Overview: It's been more than a year since John came to live at the Manor on Baker Street. He has learned many things, one being that the stories hadn't prepared him for the half of it.

Summer Mini-episode: A glimpse of life in the season after the ball.

Winter Special: John's knowledge of the Manor expands further.

Excerpt: I turned back to the window. “I don’t recall this last year. Were we away?” I leaned out. The breeze was sharp. The sound of bells louder.

“No. I told you this summer that you were changing.”

Penumbra is a fusion of Sherlock and Dark Shadows. Do you remember Dark Shadows?

In Maine, there was Collinwood and the three centuries of history that were woven into its walls. In London, there is Holmeswood Manor (or the Manor on Baker Street as the urban legends have it), tucked now into a city street when once its oak woods rolled from the heath to the river.

John grew up with its stories of ghosts and wizards and things that hunt in the night. They certainly didn’t keep him from interviewing for a residential post at the Manor because he couldn’t afford London on an army pension and was sure there couldn’t be any truth to those strange, old tales.

During Series One, John gained some insight into those while he considered whether he would make the Manor his home. A year on, in Series Two, we visit a wiser John, who has come to appreciate that the stories hadn’t half prepared him for the truth. And they had never, ever mentioned anyone remotely like Sherlock.

(This is my first attempt at saving a graphic that I'd created on tumblr for one of my stories.)

Excerpt: I put my hands over my face. When I’ve been wild, when he’s been away, when I have lain, sated and breathless beside him, there have been times when I’ve begged him to do whatever he wanted so long as we didn’t stop.

Title: Metamorphosis
Author: [livejournal.com profile] saki101
Characters/Pairings: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Greg Lestrade, Molly Hooper, OCs
Rating: PG-13
Genre: slash, AU
Word Count: ~3.4K
Disclaimer: Sherlock is not mine and no money is being made.
A/N: Written for the 2016 Spook Me Multi-Fandom Halloween Ficathon, to the prompt: shapeshifter.

Many thanks to my beta listener and plot hole finder, who wishes to remain anonymous, and without whom this fic would never have been finished.

Metamorphosis is also posted on AO3.

Excerpt: Sherlock squinted at the screen and re-played the clip of CCTV footage. I leaned over, but couldn’t see much at that angle. Sherlock handed me the phone and started for the bridge. “You were right, Lestrade. Unless this turns out to be a very elaborate publicity stunt gone wrong, this might be a ten.”

Title: The House of Usher
Author: [livejournal.com profile] saki101
Characters/Pairings: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson, Mrs Hudson, OCs, Roderick Usher/Edgar Corvus, Madeline Usher
Rating: Mature
Word Count: ~13K
Disclaimer: Neither Sherlock, the Sherlock Holmes stories of Arthur Conan Doyle nor The Fall of the House of Usher is mine and no money is being made.
A/N: A fusion of Sherlock: The Abominable Bride and ACD crossed over with The Fall of the House of Usher, written for [livejournal.com profile] piplover for the June 2016 Holmestice Exchange. (Although not essential to the story, if anyone would like to re-read Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher, it may be found at Project Gutenberg here. Several passages are quoted in the story.)
Summary: Just as one case has been concluded, a new client appears who hopes Sherlock Holmes can shed light on the mysterious deaths of the Ushers and the destruction of their home. While events unfold, Doctor Watson ponders the use of forenames.

Excerpt: Holmes had held up the dagger and grinned at me, pushing away the hair that had fallen into his eyes and smearing muck across his face in the process. The steel blade had glittered in the sunlight as he turned it to read the inscription around the ornate hilt.

“Best not to commit crimes with family heirlooms,” he had observed.
