Seven Book Cover Challenge - Day One
Mar. 2nd, 2019 12:50 pmOver on LJ,
elmey issued an open invitation to post covers of seven books one loves - one cover a day for a week. There is to be no explanations or reviews, just covers. With each cover one is to ask someone else to take up the challenge. Rather than tag folks who might not care to do this or have already done this, I, too, am issuing an open invitation to participate to anyone reading who would enjoy doing so!

Date: 2019-03-02 01:52 pm (UTC)I wonder how many different covers LOTR has had? It must be dozens at least.
This book my parents had and it wasn't too many years after I set up my own household, that I found the exact same edition for my own. I remember being so excited about it and yet I can't recall where I found it.
I have been lurking a little, but not much else. This meme seemed perfect.
So, are you going to do it or have you already?

Date: 2019-03-03 01:30 pm (UTC)As for the book, I like that it's the same edition you grew up with. :)

Date: 2019-03-03 02:47 pm (UTC)Thank you! The background ended up being a footstool sat upon a wicker chair so that the books could stand up straight for their photo.

Date: 2019-03-03 02:50 pm (UTC)I haven't posted anything for ever so long. This just seemed perfect, not only in substance, but in format.
I was so pleased to find the exact edition again. I have a few others, but this is my favourite because it's the 5th edition of the translation, which is the longest one. I have others where I really liked the illustrations, but the translation was one of the earlier, shorter versions.

H.H. Munro apparently also chose Saki as a pen name because of the poem.
