Date: 2013-02-17 07:23 pm (UTC)Your description of how you feel reading the stories, is the way I feel about writing them. They are other places I go. I am very, very pleased that you like going there, too!
I'm especially interested that you liked the carpet scene, as I considered cutting it out. The idea was that Sherlock was practising the role he's playing as de Groot and his method of enticing information and/or contacts out of Huysman. Otherwise, that sort of narrative wouldn't be very Sherlock-like, well, except for the detailed observations and clear memory of it. I think those intricate stories of childhood were the exact inspiration. I like picturing Sherlock immersed in a dense, rather Victorian, environment of information and stimuli, both of the scientific and the artistic sort.
Thank you!!!
