A lovely surprise to find your comment today! Hope you had a refreshing holiday before the rigours of the academic year set in.

I am very pleased that you like Dr Bertrand; introducing OCs is always a bit anxiety provoking.

You're right, John's feeling is a form of jealousy. He had such a short time, intense as it was, with Sherlock and now Sherlock is gone. John's store of memories is all he has and he resents that others may not only have a greater store of memories, but ones of times John had no part in. Lestrade, Molly, Mike, Mrs Hudson all knew Sherlock before John did, but he came to share the same world they shared with him. In the Rare Books Room, John has been discovering an earlier Sherlock and he feels possessive of the "memories" he is constructing from that research. It's unreasonable of John, of course, especially since there is Mycroft who was always there, but it's almost a shock to meet someone new who actually knew a younger Sherlock.

Can't tell you how happy I am that you feel the structure works. I got a bit experimental a little further on. We can discuss that when you get there.

Thank you!
