Seven Book Cover Challenge - Day Two

A few days ago, elmey issued an open invitation to post covers of seven books one loves - one cover a day for a week. There is to be no explanations or reviews, just covers. With each cover one is to ask someone else to take up the challenge. Rather than tag folks who might not care to do this or have already done this, I, too, am issuing an open invitation to participate to anyone reading who would enjoy doing so!

I have a set of the original 'Earthsea' paperbacks somewhere on the shelves! :o)

Here's where I admit I've not read Le Guin. I know, I know! This one has been on my To Read list forever.

I know. I've been following a few people who are doing this and I've just been adding to The List! And then there are the suggestions to re-read, which is a great thing to do with great books, especially ones one read long ago, but I think I have to make more progress on the 'haven't read them yet' list first!

Will you do this, too? It's a lot of fun!

I am going to do this too! :) I could talk about books all day.

Someone else mentioned the cover and I have to say I love it too; there's something about these early editions I just really dig. I have some early edition Harlan Ellison books that have covers with a similar feel and I love them so much more than later editions.

I went and had a look online of various covers for this book to see if I could recognise one as the original copy I had, but I wasn't sure. There does appear to be a few versions using the same artwork, so perhaps I had one of those.

While I was at it I got to see a progression of covers and the newer ones are pleasant, but less striking, I thought.

I haven't read Le Guin either. But the cover is fabulous.

Yes, it does reflect one of the main elements in the book, which is not always the case with cover illustrations!

This is a replacement copy I bought after I had lent out my old one and it had not come back. I'm not certain this was the cover on my first copy though, but I'm happy with it.

I have that book! I read it in either high school or college, I forget which, and have hung onto it ever since. Probably time to pass it on to my step-grandson though, he's the right age to discover LeGuin.

It's such fun to see them, like discovering mutual friends. I read it in college and it has stayed with me ever since.

It would be interesting to discuss it with him later.

I’ve been meaning to read her works. What one would you suggest starting with?

My vote would be for this one. It works as a stand-alone and if you want to read more, there's always the rest of the series.
