That sounds like a lovely story. Do you recall the title?
From my early childhood I remember finally comprehending "The Babes in the Woods" tale and crying and crying. I had heard the story many times before but not understood that the children weren't sleeping, but had died. There the forest covered up their sad little bones, but hadn't been able to provide more active help. I think that was in the back of my mind when I wrote this one, although in the forefront was that great photo!
