I know I'm reading out of sequence, but you said this could be a stand-alone, so here I am :) Did you actually write this in 24 hours? I'm totally flabbergasted!

I'm always amazed to what extent you're able to use simple actions such as putting on a jacket, picking up a drink, butting your cuffs, to add such layers to the conversations that take place on the surface-- it really is like watching the action unfold in front of me and knowing what people are thinking, not just what they're saying. It's quite wonderful.

What really struck me in this story, is how much more confident John is in the relationship with Sherlock compared to the earlier stories. And Sherlock now has to think a bit when he sees John with others, with Maria. I like that development, it's very entertaining!
