I am loathe to torment characters, you know that, but with that canon, what is one to do? And John appears to be made of some sort of earthquake resistant steel although we know that he isn't completely. Three years, I couldn't face it. (Although I've been following a great fic that did do it. Have you read The Quiet Man by ivyblossom on AO3? It's extraordinary.)

I am ecstatic that you thought their little negotiation didn't seem totally ridiculous. The nature of Sherlock's injuries was definitely working in his favour there.
